Head of Security
About the Role
The Head of Security is responsible for Group-wide security governance and security risk management, covering information and cybersecurity, physical and personnel security, operational security, and the protection of classified information.
The role establishes Group-wide security policies, standards, and controls, ensures applicable regulatory, customer, and defence-industry security requirements are addressed, and oversees the management of security risks affecting the Group's people, facilities, systems, assets, information, and operations.
The Head of Security works closely with Engineering, Production, IT, HR, and other relevant functions to integrate practical security measures into development, testing, production, and business activities, coordinate security incidents and improvement measures, and maintain effective security arrangements as the Group expands internationally. The Head of Security provides Group-wide security oversight and ensures that significant security risks are appropriately owned and addressed, while functional and technical teams remain responsible for implementing controls within their areas.
Key responsibilities
Build and maintain the Group-wide security framework, security roadmap and ISO 27001-based management system.
Identify applicable EU and national cybersecurity, security and defence requirements, as well as relevant NATO, customer and defence-industry requirements, and translate them into practical policies, controls and working practices.
Maintain oversight of significant security risks across corporate IT, engineering, production, facilities and operations, ensuring that risks are identified, assigned to appropriate owners and followed through to treatment.
Lead the security work required to establish and maintain Frankenburg’s capability to handle EU, NATO and national classified information and meet applicable industrial-security requirements.
Develop and coordinate physical security arrangements across Frankenburg’s locations, including access control, visitor management and protection of people, facilities and critical assets.
Lead security arrangements for travel, testing and other activities in higher-risk environments, including risk assessment, security guidance and crisis and incident-response arrangements.
Provide Group-wide oversight of product and intellectual-property security, working with Engineering and Production to ensure risks related to prototypes, sensitive technical information, critical know-how, unauthorised access and reverse engineering are identified, owned and appropriately addressed.
Coordinate personnel-security requirements, including screening, access authorisations and security clearance processes where required, in cooperation with HR and relevant teams.
Maintain appropriate relationships with relevant authorities, external security providers and specialist advisers, and support customer, programme, supplier and regulatory security requirements.
Build a strong security culture across Frankenburg through practical guidance, training and direct support to teams, and coordinate security audits, assessments, incidents and improvement work.
What we are looking for
Strong practical experience in security, combining information and cybersecurity expertise with a good understanding of physical, personnel, and operational security.
Relevant experience in defence, national security, critical infrastructure, or another security-sensitive environment, including practical knowledge of applicable EU, NATO, or national classified-information security requirements.
Experience establishing or operating an ISO 27001-based information security management system, with a good understanding of security across corporate IT, engineering, production, and physical environments.
Strong risk assessment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address security risks across different areas and translate regulatory, operational, and contractual requirements into proportionate and practical security measures.
Sound judgement, strong communication and collaboration skills, and a pragmatic approach to working with technical and operational teams, managing security incidents, and responding to operational risks.
Experience with NIS2 implementation, critical-infrastructure requirements, defence-industry security, product security, or security in international or multi-country organisations would be an advantage.
Strong alignment with the Group's mission to develop affordable and mass-manufacturable defence technologies, with a commitment to effective security and efficient and purposeful use of resources.
The role requires eligibility to obtain the security clearances and access authorisations required for the position.
Our Values
Our mission is ambitious, and it takes a team that works with the same intensity.
Own the Mission: Mission first. Always.
We choose impact — we focus on what moves the mission forward fastest instead of “nice-to-haves". We fix it now — when delays or problems appear, we step up, rally the right people, and solve them immediately. We keep momentum — when time matters, we stay focused and move forward without waiting for perfect conditions.Strive for More: Dare more. Do more. Achieve the impossible.
We challenge the status quo — we question, test, and improve instead of accepting “the usual way.” We embrace discomfort — we step outside comfort zones and turn challenges into growth. We anticipate the future — we build solutions that scale and set higher standards each time.Build with Trust: Be open. Keep promises.
We walk the talk — what we say, we do. No excuses, no exceptions. We share openly — we communicate clearly and early, even when the news is hard. We own outcomes — we admit errors quickly, fix them, and prevent them from repeating.

About Frankenburg Technologies Group
Frankenburg Technologies a is a European defence technology company building affordable, mass-manufacturable guided missile systems for modern air and missile defence.
This is a demanding engineering and manufacturing challenge. Guided missile systems must be precise, reliable and safe to operate, while also being affordable enough to use against mass aerial threats and producible in quantity.
Frankenburg's first system, Mark I, is a guided interceptor missile, designed to defeat unmanned aerial systems, including drone swarms, at close range.
Alongside missile development, Frankenburg is building the factories, supply chains and production processes needed to produce missiles in quantity and replenish them quickly.
Headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, Frankenburg operates in Latvia, the United Kingdom and Germany, with further European presence in Lithuania, Poland and Denmark.
