Grants Manager
About the Role
We’re looking for a Grants Manager to lead the full lifecycle of external funding opportunities, from identifying the right programmes and developing competitive proposals to managing live awards, budgets, milestones and reporting.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you’ll work closely with Engineering and Finance to secure government, defence and industry funding that directly supports our technology and product roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and maintain a pipeline of relevant government, defence and industry funding opportunities aligned with our technology roadmap.
Lead the development of compelling grant proposals, bringing together technical scope, project plans, milestones, resources and budgets.
Work closely with Engineering and Finance to ensure proposed projects support our long-term technology and product priorities.
Manage compliance with funding conditions, contractual requirements, export controls, audits and record-keeping obligations.
Monitor project expenditure, commitments and budgets, coordinating forecasts, claims and financial reporting with Finance.
Track milestones, deliverables, risks and dependencies across funded programmes.
Act as a key point of contact for funding bodies and coordinate accurate and timely programme reporting.
Identify scope or budget changes early and manage formal change processes where required.
Ensure external funding accelerates our core engineering priorities without creating unnecessary complexity or mission creep.
We Would Love You to Have
Experience developing, securing and managing externally funded technical or R&D programmes.
Strong proposal-writing and business-case development skills.
Experience developing project scopes, work packages, budgets and delivery plans.
Good understanding of public-funding governance, contractual reporting and audit requirements.
Awareness of export-control considerations relevant to technical or defence programmes.
Strong stakeholder-management skills and confidence working across Engineering, Finance and Commercial teams.
Experience communicating with government, defence, research or industry funding organisations.
Excellent attention to detail, commercial judgement and organisational skills.
The ability to manage multiple funding opportunities and active awards simultaneously.
A genuine commitment to our mission of developing affordable, scalable defence technologies while using resources efficiently and purposefully.
Our Values
Our mission is ambitious, and it takes a team that works with the same intensity.
Own the Mission: Mission first. Always.
We choose impact — we focus on what moves the mission forward fastest instead of “nice-to-haves". We fix it now — when delays or problems appear, we step up, rally the right people, and solve them immediately. We keep momentum — when time matters, we stay focused and move forward without waiting for perfect conditions.Strive for More: Dare more. Do more. Achieve the impossible.
We challenge the status quo — we question, test, and improve instead of accepting “the usual way.” We embrace discomfort — we step outside comfort zones and turn challenges into growth. We anticipate the future — we build solutions that scale and set higher standards each time.Build with Trust: Be open. Keep promises.
We walk the talk — what we say, we do. No excuses, no exceptions. We share openly — we communicate clearly and early, even when the news is hard. We own outcomes — we admit errors quickly, fix them, and prevent them from repeating.
Ready to Make a Real Impact?

About Frankenburg Technologies Group
Frankenburg Technologies a is a European defence technology company building affordable, mass-manufacturable guided missile systems for modern air and missile defence.
This is a demanding engineering and manufacturing challenge. Guided missile systems must be precise, reliable and safe to operate, while also being affordable enough to use against mass aerial threats and producible in quantity.
Frankenburg's first system, Mark I, is a guided interceptor missile, designed to defeat unmanned aerial systems, including drone swarms, at close range.
Alongside missile development, Frankenburg is building the factories, supply chains and production processes needed to produce missiles in quantity and replenish them quickly.
Headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, Frankenburg operates in Latvia, the United Kingdom and Germany, with further European presence in Lithuania, Poland and Denmark.
Join us in building the world’s next missile house.
